Overall ranking for DraftKings: 9 out of 10

First off, yes, playing daily fantasy sports online on sites like DraftKings is legal in all but ten of the 50 states (more on that below). There is no federal law that prohibits American citizens from playing on DraftKings, or FanDuel, or one of the many other daily fantasy sports sites. Key word: “federal law.” But how is DraftKings legal? DraftKings, or Draft Kings, was launched in 2012 and is one of the largest daily fantasy sports web sites. The company is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Daily fantasy sports contests are currently legal in the United States so many players who have played poker and /. DraftKings is a leading daily fantasy sports and sports betting provider for the most popular sports. Over the past 4 years, DraftKings has driven the massive spike in daily fantasy popularity to become the number one daily fantasy sports provider in the United States. Now, DraftKings has its eyes set on the now legal online sports betting market.

If you haven’t seen a commercial or advertisement for a daily fantasy sports contest you’ve probably been living under a rock or off the grid.

Everywhere you look an ad for fantasy football or baseball is plastered across a web site, your television, or a billboard. Thanks to a legal loophole the contests are currently legal in the United States, but that’s being challenged every day. Owners of land based casinos in the US don’t like the money being wagered on daily sports because it’s threatening to reduce the amount of money wagered in casinos.

Details

DraftKings, or Draft Kings, was launched in 2012 and is one of the largest daily fantasy sports web sites. The company is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Daily fantasy sports contests are currently legal in the United States so many players who have played poker and / or casino games in the past have started playing. The combination of being clearly legal, the ease of making deposits and withdrawals, and the ability to advertise easily on most media has helped the market explode in just a few years.

In daily fantasy sports, or DFS, players can enter contests and win prizes based on the performance of individual players from the major sports. Popular sports include Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, The PGA, NASCAR, Mixed Martial Arts, and college basketball and football.

Every person picks a group of athletes, usually within a salary cap structure, and when the athletes do certain things they accumulate points.

For example, in football a payer may receive points for every touchdown, reception, field goal, etc. When you enter a contest if your players score more points than your opponent’s players or if they score enough to place in the money you win money.

Popular formats include playing heads up against a single opponent or entering a tournament where you compete against a group of opponents. One of the most popular formats for multi-player tournaments is a double up. The top half of the entrants win double their money, so you only have to finish in the top half to double up.

Complaints

It’s still early in the life of fantasy sports sites for Draft Kings to have developed too many complaints and scam reports, but they’ve been involved in a few questionable issues.

When a new type of wagering is growing as fast at DFS is most of the news is good. New sites bend over backwards to take care of players because when they combine good word of mouth with paid advertising it can explode the number of users on a site. This has been the case over the past couple years for Draft Kings.

The next two links cover a story about a DraftKings employee that placed second in a big tournament on Fan Duel using information he got from working at Draft Kings.

As it turns out the information he had wasn’t anything that normal players couldn’t access if they knew how to do so, but the headlines have hurt the industry because if you don’t bother investigating the claims it looks like the person in question was involved in something similar to insider trading.

This has brought the wrong kind of attention to the industry including the issues later in this section in New York.

Bloomberg has an excellent article that outlines why it’s so difficult for an average player to profit long term playing daily fantasy sports. It doesn’t cover any complaints, but you should be aware of what you’re up against before you play.

Here’s a short story from the New York Post that paints DFS in a poor light, but there’s really not any meat to the story. It mostly looks like it’s designed to get people to click on the link.

The following two links involve the recent battle with the state of New York about the legality of daily fantasy sports. New York is claiming that DFS is just another form of gambling and the two biggest DFS sites, Draft Kings and Fan Duel are fighting the state.

The second link is about Fan Duel but they’re closely tied to Draft Kings so anything they do as far as legalities should be tracked closely.

Conclusion

At a 9 out of 10, Draftkings ranks as one of the most legitimate gambling sites in the US.

Is DraftKings safe?

Is Draftkings Legal In Az

At this time DraftKings is safe for players in the United States and around the world. As long as they keep issuing pay outs on a timely basis and the laws don’t turn against them you should be able to play without concerns for being cheated.

Even if the laws change the players should be safe. Laws generally go against the owners and operators, not the players.

Draft Kings Reviews

Draft Kings doesn’t look like they’re running any scams at this time, but they’ve been involved in a few questionable issues so I’m keeping an eye on them in case they move to the dark side in the future.

Everything I know about Draft Kings points to them being a legitimate business offering a legit service. I’ve played on the site for real money and found everything to be as advertised. I found out I should stick with poker as I didn’t fare well picking fantasy players, but I had fun and didn’t feel cheated in any way.
